| Students at my wedding in Afghanistan |
Ever since I was a child growing up on a ranch in Montana, I have been drawn to languages—foreign languages, English, writing—and storytelling.
I have since come to understand that storytelling lies at the heart of who we are as human beings.
My love for language, teaching, and mentoring led to careers as a college writing instructor, teacher of English as a second language (ESL), and corporate communications specialist.
It also led me to join Peace Corps (1976), where I was assigned to teach ESL at a teachers' college in Kabul, Afghanistan. It was in Kabul that I met and married my husband, Hans, who is from the Netherlands. Afghanistan and her people have played a significant role in my life, which is one of the reasons I have written about my experiences there frequently in blogs and articles.

Small business owner
As a small business owner, I have been providing freelance writing, editing and writing coaching services since 2002. In 2008, I also started to design small business websites for clients.
I truly enjoy helping people express the story of their products and services online. My underlying passion, however, has always been human performance improvement. I am a sponge for practical teachings and techniques that can help me transform my life and the lives of others.
This is why I love helping independent professionals, small business owners, educators, students and nonprofit organizations express themselves in writing. Together we can create and share solutions that make a real difference in the world.
